Spring Hill College welcomed prospective students and their families to The Hill with Badger Experience 2022,  on October 21.

According to Rapunzial Boykin, Assistant Director of Admissions, approximately 82 prospective students attended Badger Day. This in-person, Badger Day event began at 10 a.m. Attendees met faculty and spent time with current students while watching a soccer game. They learned about student organizations, events, and service opportunities. Madison Dempsey, Assistant Director of Admissions Operations, said, “I believe this one was the best one yet. Having Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, and Badger Day at the same time made campus even more lively. It was able to show potential students what it would be like as a current student and to be a graduate.”

According to Dempsey highschool and college students from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Arizona, and Colorado visited the campus. The event began with a welcoming session led by admissions counselors before moving into breakout sessions where attendees learned about the classroom experience. Parents learned about Academics and Financial Aid in a session led by Dr. Rebecca Cantor and Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, Rebecca Robinson.

Attendees participated in sessions about the campus experience detailing campus traditions and student life. “Badger Day is an opportunity for students to connect with other prospective students and see how they fit on campus,” Boykin said. Other sessions outlined admissions, financial aid, and scholarships. According to Dempsey the prospective students enjoyed being on campus and all ended the day at the Badger Bay Boil.

Considering the turnout of the event, Dempsey said, “Faculty and staff play a crucial role in making Badger Day successful. Everyone on campus is always eager to help out, and the teamwork exhibited is representative of who we are as a campus.”

Prospective students who attended the event are eligible to earn a $500 grant that is renewable for up to $2,000 over four years for their participation in Badger Day.
