Coach Bullington prepares the Badgers for the upcoming season.

In May, Athletic Director Joe Niland announced Walker Bullington as the new head baseball coach for the Badgers.

From growing up on a chicken farm in Tennessee, to traveling the country coaching collegiate summer leagues as well as major league baseball summer camps, Walker Bullington has found what he calls, his dream job as the new Spring Hill College baseball coach.

Billington followed in the footsteps of legendary coach Frank Sims. After volunteering previously under Sims, Bullington already had a taste of what SHC had to offer. “I started helping out with Spring Hill, fell in love with it, but left and took some of those jobs and tried to continue to build my resume,” Bullington said. “While I was at Red Lake I saw this job opportunity open, applied for it, and was fortunate enough to get it.”

Bullington and his wife both landed head coaching positions here at SHC. While he coaches the men's baseball team, his wife, Samantha Thomsit, coaches the women’s soccer team. The two moved far from home when Bullington found a spot under coach Sims while his wife coached at the University of South Alabama.

Bullington was part of the Badgers’ first ever NCAA Division II Regional Tournament appearance, back in 2019. “The conference here is winnable, but you have to show up every single day,” Bullington said. “We have to challenge ourselves with high-quality opponents and play really good baseball in those mid-weeks.” Now Bullington prepares the Badgers for the upcoming season. “Luckily since it’s September, we don’t have any season games until February which gives us time to prepare,” Bullington said.

Bullington was a former collegiate baseball player and head coach at Rend Lake College. As head coach, Bullington contributes to the high-energy that the players are expected to have. “Our job is to alleviate pressure, not add it. We have to be high-energy. We can’t expect these guys to bring high-energy if I don’t," Bullington said.

After traveling and coaching many different teams, coach Bullington will start this season off as a Badger. “Legitimately this is my dream job. This is where I wanna be. I think we can build something special here,” Bullington said.
