The Hill is definitely alive with the sound of music, as Spring Hill College’s very own Upper Room Acapella continues to share its talent throughout the community. This three-year-old student organization has taken the Hill by storm with its exceptional talent. Jacob Morris, president and founder of Upper Room Acapella describes this group as more than just a music group. “We are a family, we’re a tight knit community, and these things that keep us close will help us produce better music.”

In just the short three years of its existence, Upper Room Acapella has traveled the country, performed at over 25 venues and will even have their music on Spotify by next semester. Morris said he is excited about the continued growth of this organization.

Acapella is not just a club on campus. For many of its members, it is a gateway for opportunity. Senior Acapella member, Theresa Bertini, recognized her passion for music at an early age and knew it was something she wanted to pursue as an adult. “Acapella really is this way to continue with music for me”. Recently Bertini’s voice was featured in a promotional video that received over 24 thousand views for Mobile’s Mayor Sandy Stimpson. “This group has really made me realize that we all have a talent that we need to continue to pursue and I really want to continue with music after school,” he said.

The harmonies of the acapella group are not just heard on to Spring Hill’s campus. This group actively seeks out events in the Mobile area to share their talents. Just recently the group performed at the November LODA art walk in downtown Mobile.
